Monitor arm for a 27-inch monitor: what fits
The 27-inch monitor is the comfortable middle: 100 × 100 VESA, panel weight roughly 3–7 kg, and a standard gas-spring arm holds it with room to spare.
What you need
A standard single-monitor gas-spring arm (typically rated 2–8 kg) covers almost every 27" panel with our 1.2× safety margin. OLED 27" panels tend to sit at the lighter end (~4 kg); older IPS or 4K USB-C hubs a little heavier.
The one thing to double-check
Your desk. A standard clamp grips 10–85 mm tops, but hollow IKEA-style boards and glass need care — see the IKEA desk and glass desk guides.

FAQ
How heavy is a 27-inch monitor without the stand?
Most land between 3 and 7 kg panel-only. OLED and basic IPS are lighter; 4K USB-C hub monitors are heavier. Use the weight 'without stand' — that's what hangs off the arm.
Do I need a heavy-duty arm for a 27-inch monitor?
Almost never. A standard gas-spring arm rated to ~8 kg holds a typical 27" panel with margin. Heavy-duty is for 34"+ ultrawides and 49" curved screens.
